GDOT
Highway Sign
Moved
Around February 27, of 2017 this post was installed in front of the Exit 11 bridge.
Holly Springs had gone through great expense and effort to work on this nicely designed bridge, with the city logo, name and decorative fencing and lighting to be attractive.
GDOT Engineers designed the installation layout in the offices without knowing the specifics of the bridge's uniqueness.
From her experience dealing with GDOT Commissioner Shackleford from her days in the State House, Debra knew who to contact to make sure that it was addressed quickly!
Debra texted this image to Senator Beach (Chairman of Transportation Committee) to ask for his help to correct this. The GDOT Commissioner and Senator Beach were at The Bluffs shortly thereafter to discuss the transportation plans for Cherokee County, which was also a good time to ask to have it corrected, face to face.
They came through!
This post and sign were moved north of the bridge and it is no longer obstructing the view.
THANKS GDOT FOLKS! AND SENATOR BEACH!
