Pilsner Urquell International Photography Awards (IPA) chooses Debra Frieden for 9 category title wins.
The Pilsner Urquell International Photography Awards (IPA) has announced the 2008 winners.
The Lucie Award is considered the equivalent of receiving an Academy Award Oscar for photography. The top three winners share a $20,000 (US) prize, the coveted Lucie Award, which is a tall gleaming silver statue, publication in the annual, and a formal promotional tour worldwide showcasing selected works. Only three IPA winners will share the top prizes. One for the Deeper Perspective category, Discovery of the Year, and International Photographer of the Year
This year, the IPA judges received 22,000 entries from 124 countries worldwide. Debra Frieden has
been chosen by their judges for an astounding nine (9) separate category win titles. Debra received Honorable Mentions in the following:
- Advertising 1 - Self Promotion
- Advertising 2 - Other
- Advertising 3 - Beauty
- Advertising 4 - Fashion
- Architecture
- Fine Art - Abstract
- People - Portrait 1
- People - Portrait 2
- Special category
The Lucie also honors photographic giants, each year in the Honoree categories. Past and present Honorees have included:
- Annie Leibovitz
- Patrick Demarchelier
Arthur Leipzig Francesco Scavullo Helmut Newton Henri Cartier-Bresson Herb Ritts Peter Lindbergh
Richard Avedon, among others.
The awards ceremony will be held October 20, 2008 at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center, NY
